What is a continence assessment?

Continence Nurses Australia is a continence assessment and management service for people of all ages, cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and beliefs.

We work with you and the essential people in your life to develop individual bladder and bowel management programs. A continence assessment will initially take about 2 hours, either in person or via telehealth.

Our commitment to your care goes beyond the initial assessment. Further time is dedicated to liaising with other members of your medical and support team, arranging for samples to trial, obtaining quotes, and developing a comprehensive care plan. We are here to educate you and your caregivers on the best way to manage you incontinence. We also provide catheter education and clinical management of your catheter should your bladder not empty naturally.

The entire continence assessment, planning and treatment process usually takes anywhere from 5-10 hours, depending on the level of complexity of the person.

Services can be at your home or via telehealth.
